We Care Srinagar

Culls of dogs - mainly through poisioning - have been on the rise in Srinagar, along with reports of dogs attacking people.

FIAPO has launched a media initiative (We Care Srinagar), in collaboration with Kashmir Images, to bring about co-existence beween the citizens of Srinagar and its animals.

You can help dogs of Srinagar by writing to Mr. Bashir Manzar, the editor of Kashmir Images at kashmirimages@hotmail.com appreciating this initiative of his publication and showing your support for such constructive efforts.

Paradise for dogs?
Kashmir, and Srinagar in particular – described as paradise on earth - has faced many challenges in the recent past. This has made life difficult for not just its people – but for its dogs as well. As a result of poor rubbish management and a non existent dog population control programme, there have been increasing cases of conflict between people and dogs. This has caused repeated dogs culls.

Over the last couple of years, the Animal Welfare Board of India has made sterling efforts to move Srinagar towards the national dog control policy through mass spay neuter and vaccinations.

FIAPO is complementing this by spreading important public information to avoid conflict with dogs and encourage co existence. In collaboration with a Srinagar English language daily – Kashmir Images, FIAPO has started a weekly column that provides people useful tips to avoid conflict with dogs. Experts in the field provide important insight each week through this column.

Support our work to save dogs fom inhuamne culling and providing relief to people in Srinagar
